Despite facing many delays and a bit of frustration the fifth Dominance War is about to begin. The storyline and the rules are out, this year backed up with a little inspirational trailer.
The competition features once again 3D character art and 2D concept art categories, but as a completely different form of art, it now also adds character animation category. Interesting to see what people create this year.
Public transportation game Cities in Motion, developed by Colossal Order and published by Paradox Interactive has been available in stores for a while now. The game is available via Steam and GamersGate, you can check here for other retailers.

I was happy to work as one of the environment artists on Cities in Motion for almost a year and a half. Cities in Motion developer diaries are an interesting read and offer a nice overview to the game development as Developer Diary #5 – The Hofburg Palace published exclusively at GameZone is written by me and goes a little in depth to show the work process of an environment artist.

The game has received some pretty good reviews already, the impression is that they seem to like the graphics a lot, which I’m personally quite pleased to hear.
